  • Strub Hall

Strub Hall is home to Mayfield's Main Office, humanities classrooms, Visual Arts studios, and the Library and Technology Center, which opened in September 2012. Many of the house's original ground-floor entertaining rooms have been repurposed into community gathering areas, including the Living Room, Conference Room, and Chapel. This beloved Italianate Beaux Arts home at the heart of the eight-acre campus was built between 1914-1919 for an oil magnate, and purchased for the Society of the Holy Child Jesus by Dr. Charles and Vera Strub in 1950.
  • Pike Auditorium

Equipped with state-of-the-art theatrical equipment, Pike Auditorum hosts assemblies, Theatre, Dance and Music Conservatory productions, in addition to many other Mayfield events.

The auditorium was renovated in 1998 through the generosity of many leadership families and foundations. Their participation is commemorated in the beautiful tile wall which celebrates the classical arts and liturgical purpose of this building.
  • William R. and Virginia Hayden Building

Built in 1989, the William R. and Virginia Hayden Building is home to the science and math departments. During Summer 2014, the ground floor of the Hayden Building (our former library) was transformed into a new community meeting and gathering space! This new space includes a Student Commons and lounge area, a dedicated student kitchen, and a large multi-purpose meeting room for larger class and club meetings, advising groups, special presentations, dances and activities. Math classrooms and biology, chemistry, and physics labs are on the second floor.
  • Sister Mary Wilfrid Gymnasium

The Sister Mary Wilfrid Gymnasium (dedicated in 1993) hosts our P.E. classes, athletic teams, and the Dance Conservatory. A 3,000-square-foot addition completed in 2003 houses a fitness center and dance studio. The gym is named for Sr. Mary Wilfrid, who was a beloved member of the Mayfield community and a faithful Mayfield athletics supporter and Mayfield Cubs fan.
  • The Maeloa Music Studio

The Maeloa Music Studio (dedicated in 1997) is nestled directly behind the Pergola. Core curriculum music classes are held here, and the Instrumental Music Conservatory and Vocal Conservatory rehearse here.

Maeloa was dedicated in 1997 to Rudy Maeloa, father of Fanny Maeloa '95. The dedication plaque reads: Dedicated in memory of Rudy Maeloa with love from his wife and children Sukmavati, Hano, Fifi, Mimi, Fanny '95
  • Grounds & Gardens

Mayfield's lawns, Cornelia’s Courtyard, the Crossroads Meditation Garden and grotto provide places for students to relax, study, and talk.
  • Gracemere House

Gracemere House is home to the Admissions, Alumnae and Development departments. Named after Cornelia Connelly’s home in Grand Coteau, Louisiana, Gracemere House was incorporated into the campus in 2010 to serve as flexible space for our staff to work and our families to enjoy.

Campus History

Dr. Charles and Vera Strub, who purchased the Mayfield campus for the Society of the Holy Child Jesus, with Reverend Mother Mary Francis
There’s a reason why Mayfield Senior School students and alumnae call Mayfield their second home. For four years, they study, laugh and pray in a building that is a home, both in design and in spirit—Strub Hall.

This beloved house at the heart of the campus was built between 1914-1919 and purchased for the Society of the Holy Child Jesus by Dr. Charles and Vera Strub in 1950. Their daughter, Elizabeth Strub ’47, became Sr. Elizabeth Mary Strub, SHCJ and went on to serve as the school's Prefect from 1962-1966. The Strubs’ expression of faith in the Holy Child mission has given more than 3,500 students the gift of a Catholic education in a unique environment.
