Our biggest tip for applying to Mayfield this year? Same as usual—don’t stress!

Like many schools, we’ve made some updates to our admissions process that will continue for families applying for the 2024-25 school year. The basic application details and deadlines are the same, but other elements—like our entrance exam requirements—look a little different from past years. Here are the basics:
  • No ISEE Testing
After careful thought and discussion, we will continue our no test policy for students applying for the 2024-25 school year.

As always, we’re here to help, so please don’t hesitate to reach out via email or phone if you have any questions!

Mayfield's admissions experts have three great tips for you:

List of 3 items.

  • 1. Define what’s important to you in a high school

Every high school has something special to offer. What matters is finding the place where you will be your best self, where you will grow and thrive. Some things to consider include academic programs, class size, single-sex vs. coed, spirituality, extra-curricular activities. Reflect on what you have to give and what you want to receive from your future high school.
  • 2. Start early

Start attending open houses in 6th or 7th grade to get a sense of the schools you love and where you want to apply. In 8th grade, begin your online application early. You don’t need to complete it all in one sitting—you can log out and come back any time to finish your answers.

Your principal and current teachers really appreciate it when you give them plenty of time to write your recommendation letters. As soon as you decide where you are applying to high school, ask for your letters.
  • 3. Don't be nervous. Be yourself!

We are not going to put you on the spot or ask trick questions during your interview. We want to know about your hobbies, your favorite classes, what you like to do on weekends. What are you really passionate about? Write essays in your own words. We want to hear your voice. No pressure!

Mayfield is not an ordinary high school. It is the place that becomes your second home and where you meet the people that you look forward to seeing everyday. Mayfield has always been there for me and pushed me to become a better version of myself even when I doubted myself—I always have support no matter what.

— Holly G. '23

I can go on for days explaining why I enjoy all the different aspects of Mayfield! The academics are challenging and motivating, and I feel as if everyday I can come home and share with my family that I have gained more knowledge. The support from teachers, staff, and other students is astounding. If I have questions, or need help, someone is always there to guide me. Mayfield sparked my enjoyment for going to school.
