A message from Emily Osterkamp Murphy ’06, Alumnae Council President (Nov. 2018)

Dear Mayfield Alumnae,
Wow! November! It seems like time flies faster every year. Meanwhile, the students at Mayfield Senior School and we in the Alumnae Council have been busy! What excited me most at our first meeting learning about the current goings-on at Mayfield is the new holistic approach to service that is part of every area of the curriculum. Now, from freshmen to seniors, all classes participate in service projects, allowing to students to make service a part of their daily lives. This was just one of many changes that are taking place every day at Mayfield.
This is exactly why I am so thrilled to be involved at Mayfield and starting my second year as Alumnae Council President. Mayfield is constantly changing and adapting, trying to bring more richness to the experience of the students. It is so exciting to be on the sidelines watching it all unfold, and in the case of the Holy Child Scholarship Fund, to enable students to attend Mayfield who otherwise would not have the means to do so. My time at Mayfield obviously changed my life; I learned to appreciate my personal strengths, I began to cement my values, and I created irreplaceable bonds with my classmates and teachers. I love seeing the lives of the current students changed, and seeing what our young alumnae are accomplishing out in the world armed with their Mayfield experience.
I also love the opportunity to still be engaged in a community. It is easy to get caught up in our busy lives and forget to serve, forget to connect with friends, forget to think about the overall course of our careers. From networking mixers to service days, lectures to young alumnae parties, we at Mayfield want to remind you that your community is still here for you with open arms. If you've lost touch, we hope you'll consider joining us sometime soon and reconnecting with your Mayfield sisters and the values that continue to drive the school. Please keep the following upcoming events in mind as you plan your year and we hope to see you soon!
Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018:  #GivingTuesday #24HoursofActionsNotWords
Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018:  Carol Night
Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018:  Young Alumnae Basketball Game and Lunch
All the best for a safe and happy holiday season!
