Mayfield students offer a special prayer for the new year

For our first all-school community meeting of 2018, Julia Watson '19 wrote and offered this prayer for her classmates. No matter how busy, stressed, excited or ambitious our schedules may be, we always take a breath at the start our meetings and assemblies to take a moment to pray.
During these early weeks of resolutions and promises of the new year, we wanted to joyfull share this prayer with you.
Loving God, our creator, our senior, our companion:

We give thanks for the wonderful years that have passed and are asking You to help us make this new year another great year.

Help us through all of our endeavors, in school, sports, arts, and in volunteering. We especially pray for the seniors who are entering a new chapter of their life.

Allow us to experience your presence in the many blessings you put before us.

Open our hearts and minds to new friends and new areas of study.

Encourage us to be enthusiastic with our studies and help us when we fall.

Allow us to be attentive to our teachers and learn from all their wisdom.

Inspire us to find our gifts and use them to do good in the world.

May this new year allow us to start fresh, and help us learn from all of our mistakes from last year.

Give us courage to accept new opportunities and changes that come along with the new year.

Remind us that you have given us this chance to come to a wonderful school, learn many new things, and make new relationships.

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen.
