Head's Weekly Message —May 19, 2023

Dear Mayfield Senior School Community,

As my daughters-in-law would say, this has been a week with a lot of “feels” for me. Prom last Saturday was so beautiful. The venue was gorgeous, and our students looked fabulous. It was a joy-filled and beautiful party, just about perfect. I want to thank Abby Shaw and Katie Waferling for making the night so special for everyone.

This weekend will also be filled with amazing Mayfield arts. Yesterday evening the curtain in Pike Auditorium rose on our Advanced Theatre students’ original production of “You’d Never Know: Experiences of a Teenage Girl.” The show will be presented this evening at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Primavera Arts Festival, which will bring together visual artists and creative writers for their final presentations and gallery show. Studio Art and Photography will be on display in Strub Hall’s first floor Gallery, beginning at 5:00 p.m. and at 5:30 pm AP Studio Art, AP Photography, Film and Media, and Creative Writing students will present their work in Pike Auditorium. The final performance of “You’d Never Know” will be on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.

To top the weekend off, this Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. our amazing instrumentalists and singers will be performing their final concert of the year–”Music in May”–at the Memorial Park Bandshell located at 85 E. Holly Street in Pasadena. Clearly this weekend is going to be filled with “feels.”

And the “feels” will continue for me on Wednesday, May 24 at 6:00 p.m. when we will host our final Sports Awards Banquet of the year. I’m so looking forward to gathering our Cubs together for one last time to celebrate their amazing accomplishments.

Finally, I want to thank everyone again who participated in our “Be My Hero” fundraiser, and I humbly ask those who have not yet made their annual fund donation to please consider making a gift. I know that with your support we can end the year strong.

With Love and Gratitude,

Kate Morin
