Head's Weekly Message — March 18, 2022

Dear Mayfield Senior School Community,

What a wonderful week this has been to end the third quarter of our school year. Over the past few days, I have had the wonderful joy of observing some amazing classes in person, and it is so impressive to watch our dedicated faculty at work with our students. It has been an added blessing to be able to see so many beautiful faces!

Yesterday was so much fun too as we all enjoyed our Spring Sports pep rally. Our students participated in a number of wacky and spirit filled games—competing as if they were playing for a championship. The decibel level in the gym was very high as our students cheered their classmates on. It was a fabulous way to celebrate our Cub spirit.

Last weekend, we saw that amazing Cub spirit in action onstage. The Wizard of Oz was an absolute triumph—the acting, dancing, and singing was all superb. I want to send out a heartfelt thank you to all the parents who supported the production, and enthusiastic congratulations to Maryanne Householder and all the cast and crew members for creating such theatrical magic.

This weekend, I think we are all particularly excited for our Winter Formal—the first “normal” dance we have hosted in two years. Please take some time to talk with your daughters about pre and post dance plans. We want to make sure that everyone has a safe and fun evening—our students sure deserve that!

And as I continue on my Lenten journey, I am very much looking forward to our Reconciliation Prayer Service this coming Wednesday, when we will all have the opportunity to participate in the sacrament. For me—due to COVID-19—it has been a while, and I can’t think of a better way to send us all off on Spring Break. As we have two groups of students traveling internationally, I know you all join me in holding our entire community in the Light with prayers.

Finally, please make sure that your daughters picked up their rapid COVID-19 tests from their advisors this week. We want to make sure that our test to return program is easy and convenient for everyone. As a reminder, there are no classes on Monday, so we hope everyone enjoys their 3-day weekend!

With Love and Gratitude,

Kate Morin
