Service Learning & Social Justice

Through our theology service learning curriculum, Mayfield students become women of faith and hope who for whom service is a way of life. They examine contemporary issues of social justice—and injustice—and build social responsibility through action and contemplation.
Students serve in a variety of fields including children's services, disability services, elder care, human rights, poverty and homelessness services and environmental justice. Each grade focuses on a different outreach in their theology classes. Over the course of four years, students build relationships with their chosen partners and design personal service projects which they complete in spring of their senior year. Our goal is transformational service rather than transactional service.
