Teri Gonzales brings “a love full of action" to Mayfield

Teri Gonzales, who joined Mayfield Senior School as our Campus Minister and a theology teacher in 2016, has been formed by her many immersion experiences working with those in the margins and the less fortunate in society—street children, rural and urban poor, and victims of domestic violence and human trafficking in the Philippines. She has also has aided at-risk youths and struggling single mothers in the United States. In her work, she brings a joyful spirit of service informed by her deep faith.
Mrs. Gonzales views her service in Campus Ministry and theology instruction through the lens of her past works, hoping to help form the hearts of young women to embrace their faith-journey and be the hands, feet and hearts of Jesus in our world today.

Campus Ministry is not new to Mrs. Gonzalez, who was a part of pioneering efforts in the 1980s to establish such high school programs. She served as a Campus Minister in several girls’ schools in the Philippines and comes to Mayfield after working for eight years at Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart in Bethesda, MD.

Although Mrs. Gonzales graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering, she holds a Master’s degree in Pastoral Studies and a certificate in Spirituality from the Washington Theological Union in Washington D.C.

But her love of numbers was eclipsed by her love of finding purpose and meaning in life. For her, this is best experienced in and through service and helping students to become the best versions of themselves. She is inspired by Cornelia Connelly’s legacy of “a love full of action.” What is more hopeful and inspiring than seeing confident, faith-filled student leaders who love and build God’s reign on earth?
