Excitement builds with one week left in winter season; plus FREE BBQ!

As we enter the final week of the winter sports season, the Cubs look for a final push in Prep League to build momentum for the playoffs. The week ahead will be highlighted by our annual Booster BBQ on Tuesday, Jan. 29. For the first time, the BBQ will be centered around our basketball team, which is on a serious roll. The Cubs have won three of their last four games, including last night's upset win over Providence, which has been ranked No. 7 in CIF-D4AA. The Pioneers beat the Cubs by 21 points last month, so the win at home shows the Cubs are headed in the right direction. With tonight's game against Poly and two more games next week, the Cubs are poised to improve on last year's CIF Quarterfinal appearance. In our last regular season home game on Thursday, the Cubs will honor their three members in the Class of 2019.
The soccer Cubs also have built some great momentum in the new year. The Cubs are 4-0-2 in their last six games, including a tie against a ranked Poly squad. Tomorrow the team faces off with Flintridge Prep, the No. 1 ranked team in CIF-D2. The Cubs will honor their 13 members of the Class of 2019 at a team dinner on Monday night before they finish their regular season on Tuesday against Westridge at Occidental.

Water Polo competes today and tomorrow in one of the largest tournaments in the state. The Cubs will play Cajon today in the 12th Annual Conqueror Classic hosted by Los Altos High School. The Cubs will play five matches over the next two days. With wins next week against Brentwood & Westridge, the Cubs will qualify for the playoffs once again. The Cubs will honor their four members of the Class of 2019 after their game against Westridge at Flintridge Prep on Wednesday.

Tuesday is the highlight of the week. The entire Mayfield community is invited to our Annual Booster BBQ. It is going to be great BBQ weather, the games against Poly should be terrific, and there's FREE FOOD for all! We will also have all the Mayfield gear you could want to buy and even a few gift baskets for a raffle.

Our student-athletes receive wonderful support from our Boosters and we hope you will come and support the girls and the Boosters this Tuesday. BBQ starts at 2:30 and games are at 3:30 and 5:00.

Go Cubs!
