Head's Weekly Message — Feb. 3, 2023

Dear Mayfield Senior School Community,

This week, we wrapped up the Winter Sports season with great excitement and success. Our Water Polo and Basketball Cubs both ended with decisive victories, and we look forward to post season play for our Soccer Cubs after their win yesterday over Poly. Stay tuned for more information about times and locations for CIF playoff matches. Go Cubs!

I have really felt our Cubs spirit at all the athletic events I’ve attended this season–and that spirit will certainly be intense all next week when we celebrate Spirit Week. There will be fun opportunities for free dress every day, although we remind parents that students should still be thoughtful about what they wear and follow the free dress guidelines in the Handbook. My personal favorite in this week of fun and zany activities has to be our Class Dance competition. Our students have been working hard choreographing and learning their dances. I think the completion is going to be exciting–I can’t wait!

I’m also really looking forward to this evening's special celebration of our Mayfield Arts programs. Hearts for Arts is our annual fun- and fundraiser and with this year’s theme–”Welcome to the French Quarter”–I know it is going to be fabulous.  Please join us for New Orleans-style food, drink and live music on campus starting at 6:00 p.m. for an awesome time!

Finally–sophomore parents please mark your calendars for your Course Planning and College Night coming up this Wednesday, Feb. 8, 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Pike auditorium. This is a wonderful opportunity for you and your daughters to learn more about the upcoming junior year and to start to plan proactively for the college process.

With Love and Gratitude,

Kate Morin
