Head's Weekly Message — Sept. 9, 2022

Dear Mayfield Senior School Community,

I hope you had a lovely long Labor Day weekend with time for family and friends despite the heat wave. I’ve been enjoying my days in New York doing a lot of cooking and baking which is my main contribution as everyone adjusts to our family’s new addition. We are blessed that Nate is an extremely calm baby and that big sister Maddie is taking everything in stride. We will be sad to leave—but I’m very much looking forward to returning to my beloved Mayfield community and getting into the swing of this amazing school year.
I’ve been sorry to miss the fun on campus this past week including our first Community of the year which featured spirit games and a performance of our faculty band—Rock Child. I was also sorry to miss a big Volleyball win against Poly yesterday, as well as today’s Spirit Assembly in the gym. Such a great way to end a wonderful second week of school!

Next week is going to be exciting too. I’m very much looking forward to our Clubs Fair on Thursday. Our student-initiated and led organizations are such an important part of the Mayfield Senior experience. Clubs allow our students to find and develop their passions and grow their leadership skills. I’m especially looking forward to next Friday and our first all-school liturgy of the year when we will be celebrating the Mass of the Holy Spirit. I know our student-led Campus Ministry Council has been hard at work planning a beautiful faith-filled experience for us all. The week will end with our Senior AP Visual Arts show opening on Friday afternoon—a lovely treat for sure.

Finally, I want to thank everyone who contributed to our Loaves and Fishes program which started back up today. My husband Skip and I look forward to getting back into our sandwich making routine next week!

With Love and Gratitude,

Kate Morin
