Head's Weekly Message — March 25, 2021

Dear Mayfield Senior School Community,

First, I want to thank the Campus Ministry Council for Wednesday’s beautiful reconciliation service.  Taking the theme of peace—with lovely music, poetry, and prayer—I know that a welcomed spirit of calm and comfort came as we were able to participate in the sacrament.  The perfect spirit to begin our Spring Break vacation.

Yesterday evening, I was also so inspired as the Society of the Holy Child Jesus honored two outstanding Mayfield Alums—Margaret Morrow ’68 (Faith in Action Award) and Marina Marmolejo ’13 (Holy Child Spirit Award).   Both honorees have distinguished themselves through their advocacy for marginalized communities, especially those experiencing homelessness, exemplifying Cornelia Connelly’s mission “Actions not Words.”

As we all begin a much-needed vacation and take time for some rest, relaxation, and reflection—our amazing construction team will be hard at work as we near the completion of our Strub Hall renovation project.  The scaffolding on the front of our home should be coming down next week as the crew readies the building for our end-of-the-year activities.  I can’t wait!

Finally—Third Quarter grade reports will be posted tomorrow morning.  These grades provide a snapshot of your daughters’ progress so far this semester, and they will not appear on her transcript.  Please take the opportunity over the next week to discuss and review the grades with your daughter and perhaps help her set some goals for the remainder of the school year.

I know you will all join me in holding in the Light our entire community as we pray for a safe, healthy, and fun-filled break.

With Love and Gratitude,

Kate Morin
