Head's Weekly Message — Feb. 25, 2021

Dear Mayfield Senior School Community,

I finish this letter to you during a break this morning at our amazing Sophomore Retreat at St. Joseph’s Salesian Center in Rosemead. I have already been so impressed and inspired by the awesome Class of 2024. Their leadership, their willingness to share and the sheer joy they are expressing just being together is making my heart so full of gratitude. I want to thank all the retreat leaders, the adult facilitators, Teri Gonzales–Director of Campus Ministry and the entire 10th grade class for making this such a special day.

Being on retreat with our students is a very special way for me to start to prepare myself for this year’s Lenten journey, starting next week with our Ash Wednesday liturgy. I know in a special way I will be focusing on the power of our community.  It is so incredibly important that we use all the experiences of the past two years to look forward with hope. As the COVID-19 infection numbers continue to drop and restrictions start to be lifted, I know we are going to find such joy in seeing each other’s faces again.

It has also been such a joy to cheer on our fabulous soccer Cubs this year. After a decisive victory last Saturday in the CIF quarterfinals–our beloved team was finally defeated on Wednesday in a very hard fought game against St. Joseph’s High School. Our students played with such incredible teamwork, grit and determination. I could not have been more proud. What an amazing season!

As we continue to plan for next year—please be reminded that reenrollment contracts are due on March 1. In addition, be on the lookout for an email sent yesterday afternoon that contains all the information you will need to register your daughter for summer school. Some classes fill up very quickly—so please set up or confirm your account before registration opens on Saturday, March 12 at 9:00 a.m.

Finally, I am so looking forward to seeing you next Saturday, March 5 at our Benefit “A Night in Monte Carlo.” Honoring the amazing Mayfield Class of 1966—this is going to be an awesome party. Please reserve your tickets today!

With Love and Gratitude,

Kate Morin
