Dear Mayfield Senior School Community,
I hope you have been enjoying this week’s lovely Southern California weather. Our son and daughter-in-law arrived from New York yesterday, and it was so fun to experience their sheer delight as they marveled at our warm temperature and perfectly blue skies. I’m very much looking forward to showing off beautiful Pasadena this weekend!
I’m particularly excited to show off our amazing dancers to my family this evening at the Choreographers’ Ball. The first performance was last night continuing tonight and Saturday at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Please come out to support our talented students.
I hope many of you also have had the opportunity to
support our amazing athletes. While all our teams are playing with determination and grit, our soccer Cubs are having a particularly stellar season. Let’s everyone send out positive thoughts and prayers as they play their big game against Flintridge Prep this afternoon at 3:30 p.m. Go Cubs!
Next week in a particular way we will be celebrating the beautiful richness of our Mayfield community. On Monday we will be honoring Lunar New Year with activities for all of us to enjoy during lunch time. We especially thank Muriel Zhang and her Mandarin students for helping us learn about the lovely traditions of this wonderful holiday. On Tuesday, Feb. 1, we launch our month-long celebration of Black History. The Student Diversity Leadership Council, with the help of many, have planned extensive programming for the next four weeks giving our community various opportunities to learn, grow and celebrate.
As we continue to work hard to keep our Mayfield community safe and healthy, I am so pleased to let you know that we will be hosting a
COVID-19 Booster Clinic on campus this Thursday, Feb. 3, 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. You can
reserve your slot now. Studies show that getting this third shot really helps mitigate the spread of the virus.
As we also work to support the health of our community at large we invite you to participate in our on-campus
Blood Drive this Tuesday, Feb. 1. With the ongoing blood shortage—this is a perfect time to donate this life-giving gift.
Finally—I am thrilled to announce that Bill Lewis will be joining our Administrative Team as our new Director of Facilities. With extensive experience as a building manager, Bill has served on our Board of Trustees for almost six years. He is also the father of Mayfield alum Maureen Lewis, Class of 2018. I know you will all join me in welcoming Bill as he takes on this new role. We will be celebrating Connie Peter’s retirement from Mayfield in the spring as we complete the renovation project that she has so lovingly led.
With Love and Gratitude,
Kate Morin
