Head's Weekly Message — May 7, 2021

Dear Mayfield Senior School Parents,

First, I want to thank everyone who participated in our beautiful Mother Daughter liturgy last Sunday. It was a gorgeous morning and such a lovely opportunity for us to worship together. Seeing so many of you in person was pure joy.

It has also been pure joy to see so many of our Seniors on campus this week. I know I’ve said it before, but I will say it again—I couldn’t be prouder of the Class of 2021. They have weathered this last year with such grit and resilience while never losing their sense of joy and community. Thank you, 2021 Cubs, for continuing to inspire us every day!

It’s hard to believe that the last day of classes for our Seniors is next Friday, May 14. With the Class of 2021 preparing for graduation and participating in a number of fun class activities, we will be able to welcome all the rest of our students back to full-time in-person classes starting on Monday, May 17. Of course, all students will continue to have a fully remote option for the remainder of this school year, but we would love to see all of our underclasswomen back on campus together every day (except for Wednesdays) for their last two weeks of school. If your daughter has not yet been attending in-person classes, please contact Nurse Cota to make sure we have everything we need. I think this will be a wonderful way for everyone to finish up and also prepare for fully in-person classes in the fall!

To celebrate the end of the school year, we are planning a fun week leading up to Graduation on Sunday, June 6. Each class will have their own awards ceremony and yearbook signing party scheduled as follows:

Seniors: Tuesday, June 1, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Juniors: Wednesday, June 2, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Sophomores: Thursday, June 3, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Freshmen: Friday, June 4, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Thanks to the generosity of our Sophomore parents, who won our Annual Fund Challenge—the 10th graders will be treated to a special Pie N’ Burger lunch on their awards day. We invite all parents to participate in our final fundraising push on May 19—our annual “Be Our Heroes” giving day. This will be a wonderful opportunity for your families to recognize those who have really made a difference this year. We thank you so much for your support.

We also thank everyone for all their support as we start our Strub Hall renovation project! The work on the lowest level of our beloved home is already underway. After graduation, things will really start hopping so that the first—and most extensive—part of the project is completed by August. Please stay tuned for exciting updates!

Finally, I wish all the mothers in our community a very happy Mother’s Day—filled with love, joy, and appreciation for everything you do!

With Love and Gratitude,

Kate Morin
