Head's Weekly Message — Feb. 5, 2021

Dear Mayfield Senior School Parents,

Thank you so much to everyone who attended our virtual Town Hall meeting yesterday. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to share our Strub Hall renovation plans and look forward to keeping you updated. In the meantime, you can find lots of information online, including a recording of yesterday’s meeting. As always please contact us with questions.

I am also so excited that we have been able to start bringing our students back on campus. Our conditioning program resumed on Monday with over 100 girls participating. We are also planning to utilize our “Wellness Wednesdays” for additional activities. This coming Wednesday we will welcome our seniors to campus by advisory groups for some worship sharing and safe socializing. Each girl will also have her photo professionally taken so that we can create the traditional senior “Gate Photo” for the yearbook. The following Wednesday, Feb. 17, we plan to welcome our 10th and 11th graders to campus for an Ash Wednesday prayer service. All activities will take place outside, following all safety and health precautions. Stayed tuned for more detailed information.

I am also thrilled that at long last we have been able to schedule the Ring Ceremony for the Class of 2021 on Tuesday, Feb. 16. In addition, I can’t wait to celebrate our seniors and their moms at a special luncheon (rescheduled from Christmas) at the Annandale Golf Club on Wednesday, March 10 at 11:30 a.m. Please save the date and look for a formal invitation soon.

And we have another wonderful opportunity for connection on the horizon—our annual benefit! This year, we will be having a “Drive-In” Benefit on Saturday, April 17 at the incredible Petersen Automotive Museum. The evening will be filled with great food catered by a Mayfield alumna, performances from our talented students, and most importantly, the chance for our beloved Mayfield community to come together in a safe and fun way. This year, all proceeds will support our Holy Child Financial Assistance fund. Keep an eye out for a save the date email soon.

Finally, I want to congratulate the Student Diversity Council on creating a meaningful and thought-provoking Black History Month assembly that we all attended through advisory on Wednesday. Our students are exhibiting courageous, positive and compassionate servant leadership. They are my role models!

With Love and Gratitude,

Kate Morin
