Head's Weekly Message — Oct. 16, 2020

Dear Mayfield Senior School Parents,

I invite you to read our seasonal newsletter, the Messenger, to learn all about what’s been going on “at school” as we wait patiently for the time when we can welcome everyone back to 500 Bellefontaine!

Please mark your calendars for a virtual town hall next Tuesday, Oct. 20 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. No need to RSVP—just stay tuned for the Zoom meeting link. We will video the meeting and post the link so if you are unable to attend you can watch at your convenience. If you would like, please submit up to three questions in advance to make sure I address the topics you are wondering about. There will also be time for a brief question-and-answer session too.

In honor of Cornelia Connelly and the anniversary of the founding of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus, on Wednesday, Oct. 21 we will celebrate our founder through a day free from its usual schedule—no Office Hours, no advisory, club or class meetings, and no council meetings. No classes. Instead we invite our students to take some time for prayer, service and celebration:
  • Prayer: SHCJ October Meditation—a five-minute reflection at the opening of the 175th Anniversary Celebration of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus, with a call to action to care for all of God’s creation.
  • Service: Join us in feeding the hungry by participating in the Loaves & Fishes program. Sack lunches can be dropped off at Mayfield between 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. or check out these other resources.
  • Celebrate life and find joy and balance in your life: art, exercise, making connections, relaxation, play and fun!
With Love and Gratitude,

Kate Morin
