Head's Weekly Message — May 15, 2020

Dear Mayfield Senior School Parents,

Today is very special as it marks the last official day of classes for our beloved Class of 2020. While there are still some AP exams to take and Senior Transition Week activities in which to participate, this is a time to celebrate their many impressive accomplishments and beautiful contributions to our school community. Our seniors have distinguished themselves in so many ways—as athletes, artists, scholars, and leaders. But what I cherish most about these 77 girls is their amazing and loving generosity of spirit. Over the past four years they have shared themselves with each other and every member of our Mayfield community with courage, compassion, and love. What a blessing it has been to spend the last four years with these extraordinary young women.

We are having a lot of fun planning a number of ways (including some surprises) to celebrate this wonderful class. These include our “Safer at Home” version of our Mother-Daughter Senior Tea, which will be delivered to doorsteps this Wednesday, May 20. I’m so looking forward to making some of those deliveries myself! We are also anxiously awaiting information from the government about any easing of the “Safer at Home” restrictions that were due to expire today. Based on this information we will make our final decisions about graduation and summer school. Please stay tuned for a message on Monday with all the details.

In the meantime, we anticipate that some members of our community may be facing unanticipated financial challenges. To that end, the Mayfield Board of Trustees has approved a fund for limited tuition assistance for families who are experiencing financial losses due to the COVID-19 virus and economic restrictions. Please be on the lookout for more information about how to apply for these funds—we'll be sending a separate email to you this afternoon.

Finally—please make sure to tune in to our Virtual Fine Arts Festival, which will begin with a live opening reception this afternoon from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The festival highlights all the amazing accomplishments of our talented visual and performing artists—a perfect way to start the weekend.

With Love and Gratitude,

Kate Morin
