Head's Weekly Message — Nov. 8, 2019

Dear Mayfield Senior School Parents,

Greetings from beautiful Rosemont, Pennsylvania! I’m here attending the annual conference for heads and trustees of the Holy Child Network. Today, I will be meeting with my counterparts from our 10 schools in the United States. I always look forward to spending time with these wonderful educators as we discuss ways that we can support each other as well as our shared mission and charism. Tomorrow, trustees from our schools will join us for more discussion and fellowship. I feel so blessed to be part of such a vibrant and dedicated group.

Yesterday, I had the wonderful privilege to have lunch with three amazing members of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus, Sr. Elizabeth Mary Strub ’47, SHCJ, Sr.  Terri MacKenzie, SHCJ and Sr. Elizabeth Loomis, SHCJ. Our conversation was expansive, and I was so interested to hear their views on topics ranging from politics to diversity to climate change. We also talked a lot about our founder, Cornelia Connelly—her struggles, her courage, and her leadership style. It was one of the most inspiring meals I have ever enjoyed. I feel I have made three new friends and found three new role models!

Yesterday evening, I also had such fun having dinner with two of our beloved alums, Madeleine Coppersmith ’16 and Angela Sarni ’18, who are now both attending Villanova University. It was great to catch up on all the wonderful things they are doing and also to hear them reflect on their deep gratitude for their Holy Child education. I am always so impressed and humbled by the ways in which our alumnae have been influenced by their time at Mayfield. Faith-filled, confident, smart, generous, and kind—they give me enormous hope for the future!

Finally, while I’m having a lovely time “back east,” I really can’t wait to return home in time to attend the Sunday matinee of our Fall play—The Curious Savage. I hear the reviews are awesome—it’s a fabulous production that should not be missed. I look forward to seeing many of you in Pike on Sunday afternoon.

With Love and Gratitude,

Kate Morin
