Head's Weekly Message — May 24, 2019

Dear Mayfield Senior School Parents,

What a lovely week this has been—a little quiet on campus without our beloved seniors, but so full of beautiful traditions. Always one of my favorites, I want to thank Amion Burton and Amy Powell for planning such a wonderful Senior Tea on Tuesday. I just love seeing our girls with all their hard work completed so relaxed with their moms. I also enjoy hearing about the first few days of their service projects. The girls speak with such enthusiasm and respect about their experiences—it is really inspiring. I very much enjoyed going even deeper with my small group yesterday during our reflection time, and I can’t wait to learn more at our Service Project Closing Ceremony next Tuesday. The Class of 2019 is certainly living our motto “Actions Not Words” in powerful ways.

Yesterday evening’s Arts Recognition ceremony was also a treat, celebrating such a successful year. Our conservatories are flourishing and our programs keep growing. The arts—both visual and performing—were incredibly important to our founder, Cornelia Connelly, and she saw them as an essential and central component of a Holy Child education. I am so proud of our faculty and student artists for contributing in such vital ways to the fulfillment of Cornelia’s beautiful vision.

I hope everyone is able to get some good rest this long Memorial Day weekend in anticipation of a very busy last week of school. I look forward to participating in our senior transition activities and sending calming prayers for our girls taking their final exams. I’m also looking forward to our closing awards and yearbook assembly for students next Friday at 10:30 a.m. (seniors arrive at 8:30 a.m. for graduation practice), followed by a free celebratory lunch. Dismissal will be at 2:00 p.m.

With Love and Gratitude,

Kate Morin
