Head's Weekly Message — May 17, 2019

Dear Mayfield Senior School Parents,

It is almost impossible for me to believe that today marks the last day of classes for the beloved members of the Class of 2019. As I have been reflecting on our four years together, I have to admit that I’ve been experiencing a huge range of emotions.  I’m so proud of all they have accomplished and I am so grateful that I started my own Mayfield journey with this particular group of girls. I have learned so much from them about hard work, determination and resilience. I know that they are ready to say goodbye—but I’m not sure that I am.

Today we will be celebrating our seniors at our final all-school liturgy of the year. I know it will be a beautiful and heartfelt send-off as they begin their service projects next week. I’m very much looking forward to hearing about their experiences helping others during their reflection groups next Thursday. I’m also looking forward to seeing all our senior moms and daughters together next Tuesday for our Senior Tea.

This past Wednesday evening was a great celebration too as we honored our athletes and coaches at our final Sports Awards dinner. I have been so impressed by our entire program this year—especially seeing our girls compete with such skill and grace. Thanks go to all of you parents who supported Mayfield athletics this year—especially our Booster Club members led by Suzanne and Steve Sanchez—absolutely magnificent!

Yesterday evening we also enjoyed impressive performances when our Instrumental Conservatory took us on a joy-filled musical journey, Rock through the Decades. I’m honored to have been able to contribute a little on the bass guitar. To complete the year I’m so looking forward to our final vocal concert on Sunday. I know it will be a real treat along with our opportunity to honor all our artists next Thursday at Arts Recognition Night.

Finally—as senior families make their final preparations for graduation weekend I want to remind you that on Saturday, June 1, our Baccalaureate Liturgy and Senior Awards Evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. We anticipate that the ceremony will last about 90 minutes—so please keep that timeframe in mind if you are making dinner reservations or other plans.

With Love and Gratitude,

Kate Morin
