Head's Weekly Message — April 26, 2019

Dear Mayfield Senior School Parents,

I hope you all had the most wonderful and joy-filled Easter.  Skip and I had a quiet and restful weekend spending time with my mother, who will turn 90 this Sunday. We also enjoyed seeing so many members of our Mayfield community at the packed 9:30 a.m. Mass at Holy Family—such a beautiful liturgy celebrating the renewal of our lives through our risen Lord!

As we enter the final month of this school year, the next few weeks will be filled with excitement as well as some nervous anxiety. Our seniors will be making their final college decisions and AP exams loom in the very near future. There will also be lots of projects to finish and finals to prepare for as we move toward graduation day on June 2. I predict that May will be a very busy and emotional month for many of us.

As I prepare myself for the coming whirlwind of activities, I plan to keep the beautiful and optimistic Easter message of Pope Francis in my mind and heart. The Holy Father reminds us that through the resurrection we can find the hope and comfort we need to meet every challenge saying:

Christ is alive and he wants you to be alive! He is in you, he is with you and he never abandons you. However far you may wander, he is always there, the Risen One. He calls you and he waits for you to return to him and start over again. When you feel you are growing old out of sorrow, resentment or fear, doubt or failure, he will always be there to restore your strength and your hope.” (Christus Vivit, 1-2)

I know I felt God’s presence in the beautiful celebration of our student leaders yesterday as we prayed in gratitude for their wonderful accomplishments this year and welcomed our newly elected officers. I’m also very much looking forward to this weekend’s dance concert—our annual Choreographers’ Ball—which is always such a treat of loveliness and talent.

With Love and Gratitude,

Kate Morin
