Spring fever hits Cub teams with major wins and league championships in play

What a week for our spring sports! As we entered into the final two weeks of the regular season, the Cubs have put themselves in position as challengers for both league and CIF championships.
Softball continues its climb up the Prep League standings. The Cubs defeated Flintridge Prep, 7-3, on Tuesday to move to 5-3 in league with games today at Providence. Tomorrow, the Cubs will host second place Chadwick at Westridge at 10:00 a.m. The Cubs are now ranked #5 in CIF and seem to be peaking at the exact right time to make a deep run in the playoffs.

Track & Field continued its dominance in the Prep League. After winning the first three league cluster meets handily, no one would have blamed the Cubs for looking past Wednesday's final Prep League meet to the league prelims and finals coming up next week. However, the Cubs scored 82 points and once again outpaced all of the other teams in the league. And the Cubs bested many of our strongest competitors. The Cubs look well positioned to win their sixth consecutive league title. Tomorrow the team will travel to Carpinteria to compete in the 100th Russell Cup, a great final tune-up before Prep League prelims on Tuesday at South Pasadena High School.

Swim & Dive had a great week too, marked by resounding victories by Varsity and JV over Chadwick. Then on Wednesday the Cubs visited Pasadena Poly, a team they had not defeated since 2013. The Panthers have owned the Prep League since then. However, their streak came to an end this week. The Cubs won a thrilling 91-84 victory, improving to 4-1 in league with one more meet to go. The JV Cubs also won handily, 119-22, and seem to be well on their way to their 15th consecutive league title.

Badminton continued its strong improvement. The Cubs fell in both of their league matches this week, but today they host the defending state champion, the Arcadia Apaches. The Almonte League has noticed the Cubs scoring significantly more points in their second match-up with the teams in league.

Don’t forget that our annual Dad's Poker Night is right around the corner. The event is on Thursday, April 25, hosted at the Pipperts, right across the street from school. All dads are welcome! We hope to have current dads, alumnae dads, and all dads come and enjoy a great night. No experience is necessary. We will even have lessons from 6-7 p.m. that night before the real play begins at 7 p.m. Please register today and help support our fantastic student-athletes.

And please come out and cheer on your Cubs. Our sports year is winding down and the Cubs are red hot! Go Cubs!
