Spring sports launch with impressive wins and strong starts!

Softball and Swim & Dive have already competed in recent weeks, and this week Badminton and Track & Field FINALLY joined them.

The stellar performance of Track & Field on Monday highlighted the week. In the Cubs’ first competition of the year, the team dominated Prep League competition at South Pasadena High School. The Cubs scored 130 points, as much as the next three teams COMBINED. Second place Poly scored 50.5 points. The Cubs won eight events in one meet:

Badminton also started their season with a match at San Marino on Tuesday. The Cubs have a team of 85% freshmen who are new to the sport and we ran into a talented and experienced team. The Cubs competed well and many girls played very well in the first match of their careers. The team is surely going to be a growing power for years to come.

Swim & Dive had a busy week. The Cubs were led by last week's Athlete of the Week, Marina Rodriguez-Garcia '20. They went up the hill and took on the Tologs in a Rivalry Series meet. The Varsity fell in a heartbreaker to FSHA, 50-44. JV came away with a resounding 53-29 victory. Yesterday the Cubs fell in both meets to a strong Immaculate Heart squad. The team is now off until next weekend's prestigious Mt. SAC Invitational.

Softball won their final non-league game of the year against Alverno on Monday. This afternoon the Cubs will begin defending their 2018 Prep League Championship by hosting Chadwick at 4 p.m. at the Glendale Sports Complex Field #2. It will be a beautiful afternoon for an important early-season game. If you never been to the GSC, it is a terrific athletic facilitycome cheer on the Cubs!

All four teams will begin league play in the coming weeks and your support makes a huge difference. Come to a match, game, or meet, and cheer on our wonderful student-athletes. Full schedules are available on iMSS and the school website, and you can get updates by following @msscubs on twitter. And don't forget to join our Booster Club. We rely on the wonderful financial assistance of our boosters each year.

See you at the game!

Thank you and Go Cubs!
