High-five to Water Polo Team as we prepare to honor winter sport Cubs

The winter sports season for the Cubs officially came to an end with the water polo team earning a slot in the playoffs and falling to Arcadia on Tuesday night. Strong season, Aqua Cubs!
We now turn our sights to spring. All four of our spring sports—badminton, softball, swim/dive and track/field—are now practicing hard in preparation for our first contests later this month. Our swimmers even jumped in the pool on Wednesday at 5:30 a.m. in 33-degree weather in Altadena!

The softball team, defending Prep League Champions from 2018, will set the tone by playing their first games of the year tomorrow in the San Marino Tournament. The Cubs will play the host Titans at 11:00 a.m. and follow that up with a rivalry game against the Tologs from FSHA at 1:00. The Cubs are led by Coach Katie Clancy '11 and 2018 league MVP and Senior Class President Julia Watson '19. They play their games at Brookside Field #2, down by the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center. The Cubs hope to have big crowds cheering them on this seasonmake sure you come out to a game. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon.

A reminder to all parents of spring sport athletes: We have our info night this Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the gym. Come meet our coaches, hear about practice and game schedules, and team expectations. We have many new coaches and are excited about the spring season. I hope to see you there.

And we have not completely closed the book on our winter season. We still get the chance to honor the great achievements of our basketball, soccer and water polo teams at our Winter Sports Banquet on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 6:00 p.m. in the gym. Don't forget to RSVP by next Friday!

Go Cubs!
