Finishing the Regular Season for Spring Sports

What seemed like a slim possibility at the beginning of the school year, looks like it will come to fruition next week. We will be finishing the regular season for our four spring sports and honoring our members of the Class of 2022 playing in their final home games. We will have successfully made it through all three seasons of sport and given our seniors a final season as Cubs! The seniors have given us one of the most memorable athletic years that Mayfield has seen in a long time. We hope you can come out and honor them one last time as they finish their careers as Cubs.
Tomorrow, the Swim & Dive team will take part in the Prep League Finals at Poly beginning at 2:00 pm. The Varsity team aims to win back-to-back championships and the JV team looks to win their 18th consecutive league title as we honor our seven graduating seniors.

On Tuesday, the Track & Field team will compete in the Prep League Finals looking to win their 7th consecutive league championship. The Cubs performed very well this past week in the league prelims and set themselves up well for another title, and with NO SENIORS on the team, the track & field team is sure to be a force in the Prep League for years to come.

This Wednesday, the Softball team will host its final regular season home game at Brookside Field #2 at 3:30 p.m. as we honor 5 seniors who have been a part of our program. The team clinched a playoff berth with a big win over Chadwick earlier this week and will host Poly in the regular season finale on Wednesday.

Finally, the Badminton team hosts San Gabriel in the Cubs Cave on Thursday, April 28, at 3:15 p.m.  We will honor five girls and four Loyola boys as they finish their careers on the court. The team has not played any games this week due to Loyola's spring break, but will finish with a flurry—3 matches in five days—next week.

It is a very exciting time in the Athletics department. We hope you can come out and cheer on the Class of 2022 one last time! We thank them and their families for their skill and leadership over the past four years.

GO CUBS!
