The Booster BBQ feeds hundreds as Cubs sweep Providence volleyball on Senior Night

It seems like we just got back on campus sports yesterday and this week we have already celebrated members of the Class of 2022 on two of our fall sports teams. On Wednesday, our golf team closed out their home regular season with a match against Buckley. It marked the final time Amy Baum ’22 and Kate Thompson ’22 would lead our golf team in a match. Amy and Kate played wonderfully and represented Mayfield with grace and talent. The golf team will have one more match next week before Amy and Kate represent the Cubs in the Prep League Championships on Oct. 19.
Last evening was a special night on campus as we honored Ashlynn Hurley ’22, Maddie Kaufman ’22 and Amelia Velasquez ’22, who played their final regular season home volleyball game for the Cubs. The Booster Club held their annual BBQ and fed over 400 people as we celebrated being back on campus with a sweep of Providence on Senior Night. The Varsity Cubs are now 10-1 in league and ranked #2 in CIF with one week to go in the regular season.  The Cubs will look to win their first league championship since 2018 when they travel to Flintridge Prep on Tuesday. The next night, the Cubs will go back to La Canada to take on FSHA in the annual Dig Pink volleyball match.

Cross country returned to action last week and ran extremely well in the Central Park Invitational in Huntington Beach. The Cubs were led by our Athlete of the Week, Clare Kvochak ’24. Clare placed 37th overall in a race with over 150 runners and led the Cubs to a 15th-place team finish. The tennis teams have been practicing all week in preparation for their matches today versus Flintridge Prep. Today's match will go a long way in determining the league champion and the Cubs will start with the Wolves up at Scholl Canyon at 3:30 p.m.

We had a number of families join the Booster Club last night and our student-athletes always love the support our families can give. We also would love to have a big crowd at Flintridge Prep for volleyball on Tuesday as the Cubs go for league championships on all three levels!
