Record-setting Rhapsody in Red Benefit honors the Strub family

This year’s Rhapsody in Red benefit was a wonder to behold, and a wondrous success! Our Gatsby-glam gala channeled all the fun and frivolity of the Jazz Age to celebrate the centennial of our beloved Strub Hall and to honor the Strub family for their incredible founding gift to Mayfield Senior School.
Guests were swept into Pasadena history with an uplifting three-minute video that tells the story of the beautiful Beaux-Arts building at the heart of our campus and introduces the generations of the visionary and generous Strub family who have made Mayfield the school we know and love.

We were thrilled to welcome members of the extended Strub family to celebrate with us, and delighted to hear from Sr. Elizabeth Strub, SHCJ, daughter of Charles and Vera Strub and Mayfield’s prefect from 1962-66, via a heartfelt video message that connected our school’s past and present.

Our spirited community rallied to mark this Mayfield milestone by raising a record $240,000—thank you! This impressive show of support includes $71,000 towards “Paddles for Pike,” our end-of-evening paddle raise for a long overdue seating update for Pike Auditorium. There’s still time to raise your virtual paddle to help us reach our $100,000 goal and make this gathering hub—a place for community, arts, leadership, celebration and learning—an even more welcoming space when we come home to 500 Bellefontaine!

Congratulations and thank you to Benefit Chair Candy Renick (Lucie ’22) and her incredible team of “Fabulous Flappers” for creating such a fun and memorable evening. What an incredible celebration of the building we call home, and a precious chance to spend time with the people we call our Mayfield family.
