The Mayfield Academic Program

Mayfield’s academic program meets you where you are to launch you further into academic success. With caring, expert faculty and a wide range of courses and pathways across different levels and disciplinary fields, you’ll have numerous opportunities to pursue what excites you, discover what interests you, grow in your learning, and ultimately get to where you want to go–not just for college but beyond.

Graduation Requirements

4 units of English
4 units of Theology
4 units of Wellness (Formation of Self)
3 units of Mathematics
3 units of one World Language
(or two units each of two different languages)
3 units of Social Studies
3 units of Laboratory Science
(must include Conceptual Physics, Chemistry and Biology)
1 unit of Fitness
1 unit of Fine Arts

One unit is the equivalent of a full-year course. All students are required to take six classes per semester, plus Formation of Self. Service learning is also required all four years.

Honors and Advanced Placement Courses

To challenge themselves beyond our college-prep level courses, Mayfield students, upon meeting grade pre-requisites, have the option of choosing from 29+ Honors level and Advanced Placement level courses across. Honors level and Advanced Placement level courses are offered in the English, Social Science, Mathematics, Science, Fine Arts, and World Languages departments.

Beyond AP Courses: Mayfield Intensives

For students wishing to challenge themselves even further beyond the Advanced Placement level, Mayfield Intensive courses offer a “beyond AP” curriculum that enables students to deepen their learning. Mayfield Intensives are currently offered in the Social Science and Fine Arts departments with plans for more courses offered in other Departments in the future.

Innovative Electives

Beyond standard coursework, students can tailor their academic journey to their personal passions through a rich selection of innovative electives—including Biotechnology, Speech and Communication, Sports Medicine, and Strategic Investing. These electives equip students with essential skills and practical expertise for real-world application, further deepening their learning and professional aspirations.

Signature Programs

To provide students with even more learning opportunities beyond the traditional high school curriculum and classroom, students can choose to participate in three Signature Programs–Global Learning & Exchange Program, Pathways Program, and Internship Program–to further pursue their interests, augment their learning, and differentiate themselves.
