Summer@Mayfield Cubs Camps

Open to rising 6th-8th grade girls 

Please note that we plan to operate all Summer@Mayfield camps in person on the Mayfield campus. Our plans will, as always, be guided by Health Department and government directives.

Experience the fun and friendship of Summer@Mayfield! Rising 6th - 8th grade girls are welcomed onto campus for an exploration of arts and athletics at Mayfield.

A $40 non-refundable fee is charged for summer registration.

  • Sports Camp

    Session 1: June 21 - July 8, 2022
    8:30 - 11:30 am

    We are thrilled to launch our junior high sports Cubs Camp for rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders! Work with Mayfield coaches, Malissa Balderama ’09 and Katie Clancy ’11, to develop skills in badminton, basketball, tennis, softball, swimming, volleyball and even pickleball!  
  • Creative Writing

    Session 1: June 21 - July 8, 2022
    8:30 - 11:30 am

    This workshop is open to student writers of all levels and interests. 
    Workshop focuses on informal and expressive writing to strengthen skills of language and thinking in a non-competitive environment. Students share writing with classmates for feedback and encouragement and develop more polished pieces, ranging from personal memoir, short stories, poems, mixed media zines, brief dramatic works, and creative non-fiction.

    Students will compile a portfolio of their best work, and present some of these pieces in a reading for family and friends at session end.
  • Cub Reporters Workshop

    Session 1: June 21 - July 8, 2022
    12:00 - 3:00 pm

    The ins and outs of modern journalism taught by a working journalist and teacher. Cub reporters learn all about basic reporting and tools of the trade from writing and copy editing, and researching and interviewing, to photojournalism, creating graphic news art, and design and print layout. Word-processing proficiency is a prerequisite for this class.

    By the end of the program students will have multiple stories on whatever topics move them, plus have them published in their own newspaper.
  • Vocal Music Camp

    Session 1: June 21 - July 8, 2022
    12:00 - 1:30 pm 
    Learn solid vocal performance technique in three weeks. This class is perfect for anyone who loves to sing and wants to learn more about solo repertoire, both classical and musical theater for auditions, or simply to have fun learning how to sing your very best!

    This course will conclude with a performance during the final week.
  • Instrumental Music Performance Camp

    Session 1: June 21 - July 8, 2022    
    1:30 - 3:00 pm 

    Have fun making music while building your skills this summer! All instruments at all levels are welcomed to come and join the instrumental ensemble. We will explore a range of musical styles from classical to popular, global music to film music. This workshop will focus on building skills in rhythm, harmony, sight-reading and performance of instrumental music along with some exploration into recording projects and production projects using music tracking software SoundTrap or GarageBand. 

    The workshop will conclude with a fun performance and project presentation at the end of the session.
  • Theatre Camp

    Session 2: July 11 - 29, 2022
    9:00 - 2:00 pm 

    This program is open to all rising 6th, 7th, & 8th grade students! Current Mayfield Senior School students are welcome! Come learn and create in workshops with industry professionals in theatrical areas such as: costuming, prop-making, stage hair and makeup, set design, choreography, theatre games/activities and so much more! This is the perfect summer opportunity to blend creativity, building self-confidence/relationships, and your child's passion for the arts. 

    No previous skills/background required.
