Mayfield students hail from all over Los Angeles County, but most come from the Pasadena/San Gabriel Valley area. They come from Catholic, independent, public and international schools. They represent many different racial, ethnic, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds. For example, the Class of 2012 numbers 77 and comes from 22 different feeder schools.
Most incoming freshmen know only a few other students before they enroll, so the atmosphere on campus is very friendlystudents are eager to get to know each other.
Mayfield admits the best-qualified applicants. We seek students who possess character, scholarship, curiosity and love of learning. In addition, Mayfield expects to enroll students who value integrity, loyalty and service. The following are criteria that the Admissions Committee considers when making its decisions:
- Application, including student essay
- Interview
- Admissions testing (ISEE)
- Transcript, emphasis placed on 7th and 8th grades
- Recommendations (academic and personal)
In evaluating applicants, the Admissions Committee creates a context for each student, and tries to assess the student’s ability and eagerness to benefit from and contribute to Mayfield.
100% of our students are accepted to four-year colleges and universities. Our graduates enroll at small liberal arts colleges, large research universities, and public and private institutions in the West, South, Midwest and on the East Coast.
The tuition for 2009-10 is $19,995.

No. It is important to note that applying for Financial Aid has no bearing upon the Admission Committee's decision and assessment of an applicant's potential as a Mayfield student. Decisions regarding Financial Aid are made after admission is determined.
We enroll a freshman class of approximately 75 students. Last year we received more than 250 applications for those 75 spots.
