Creative expression is integral to a Holy Child education, and at Mayfield, the arts are thriving. To meet graduation requirements, all students are required to complete one year of a Fine Arts course, offered during the school day.

For the student who wishes to pursue deeper training, our Conservatory for the Arts provides a dynamic, classically oriented program akin to the honors and advanced placement coursework in the academic program. Visit our Art Gallery and Performances in Review to view our student artists’ work.

Study is available in these artistic disciplines:
Creative Writing (Poetry, Prose)
Dance (Contemporary, Classical, Modern)
Photography (B&W, Digital)
Technical Theatre
Theatre (Classical, Contemporary)
Visual Arts (Painting, Drawing, Mixed Media)

Vocal Music (Classical, Contemporary)

Instrumental Music (Classical, Contemporary)

Grades
Students receive credit and a formal grade for Conservatory classes, which are UC accredited. (Per new UC regulations, students are required to go from a "proficient" to an "advanced" level in the core curriculum introductory and intermediate Fine Arts classes before proceeding to the Conservatory level. The Summer Institute for the Arts can also be a potential launching point for the Conservatory.)

Schedule
Conservatories meet from 3-5 pm, two or three afternoons a week. Creative Writing meets on Saturday.
